THE OBJECTIVE

Resistance to wear

Wear is a complicated but well known process and can be described as the loss of surface material when two surfaces rub, roll or come into contact with each other. Wear to sprockets, roller bearings, cutting blades and machinery occurs daily in practically all systems. It also often represents a major cost for a company.

Materials that have been treated cryogenically display a remarkable increase in resistance to wear. The method employed, which differs from a surface coating, is a one-off permanent treatment that alters the material to its very core. Re-sharpening worn material does not destroy the effect of the cryogenic treatment. The equipment to be treated can be brand new or old, sharp or blunt prior to the treatment.

The molecules will now work together in an ordered, uniform way which results in a better resistance to corrosion.

In addition...

Processing the material that has been treated it easier and less time consuming. Although he material is stronger and tougher after the process it exhibits very little or no change in its tensile strength. It is less brittle without any loss in its original hardness.
